Self-adhesive labels
Compared to (wet) glue labels, self-adhesive labels are produced in a variety of high-quality materials and in high print quality. They are therefore particularly suitable for decorating high-quality products in the food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, chemical and many other industries.
Labels are often part of the product design, provide information about the product, contain production-specific data, can be information carriers in logistics or have a technical function within a packaging. Labels are often used to provide a high degree of flexibility in the packaging industry. In many cases, the storage of product-specific packaging or packaging materials can be reduced to a minimum, resulting in savings in packaging costs. Self-adhesive labels are generally not in competition with (wet) glue labels, but there are overlaps in some sectors such as the beverage industry.

a variant for high-quality labels because the glossy film creates a special look.
Everything that shines is perceived as high-quality and noble. Particularly suitable for labels in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical and electronics sectors. The glossy film also protects the label from environmental influences and makes it very durable.
a variant for labels with elegant flair. The matt appearance and the flattering feel of the film give your label an unmistakable character. Particularly suitable for lifestyle and trendy products. This film also protects the label from environmental influences and makes it very durable.
Your selection
Thanks to our digital printing technology and laser cutting machines it is possible to produce almost any desired shape. There are no limits to your creativity when designing your labels. Whether oval, round, rectangular, square or figurative - almost everything is possible!
Or do you need several different shapes one after the other on a carrier track? No problem either.
Our production lines offer you an infinite number of possibilities that would be inconceivable in conventional printing. We would be happy to provide you with further information.
Our innovative production lines can also produce XXL-Jumbo Labels. Where conventional printing and its processing systems are limited to certain formats, we are just beginning.
There are no limits due to the digital roll printing with a web width of 33,3 cm and the processing with laser cutting machines in the same XXL web width. This is the basis of our motto - "Lots, lots, every size, every shape"! The possibilities and format variants seem almost endless.
We will be happy to answer your questions about possible formats and designs. We are looking forward to your call.
Press proof - edition 1
Do you need an original printout to coordinate with your marketing department or to approve the main print run? Or would you simply like to see in advance what your newly designed label looks like? We are also happy to offer you this option.
Your label in edition of 1 piece with or without die-cutting!
Our production lines offer you an infinite number of possibilities that would be inconceivable in conventional printing. We would be happy to provide you with further information. Talk to us about it.
Usage
The role specification for automatic processing can be carried out in different versions. Your assembler will provide you with the following information:
- Roll core size e. g. 76 mm standard size
- max. roll diameter or number of labels per roll
- Winding pattern inside or outside
- Running direction of the labels on the carrier web
Here you will find an illustration of the winding pattern and the respective running direction >> - Marking of rolls, e. g. inner core labelling with or without barcode
A core of 76 mm is used as standard. There are also reel cores with 25,4 mm, 40 mm or 50 mm. Please note that the above-mentioned factors are important when preparing an offer. A change in the specification can lead to price changes. Your assembler knows the necessary technical specifications for the reel specification and will be happy to provide them to you upon request.
During automatic label processing, the label material is pulled tightly over a blade shaped edge. Due to the greater stiffness and the silicone layer, the label with the adhesive detaches from the carrier material and remains stuck to a passing product.
- The labels must have a constant distance between each other on the backing paper. Usually the distance is 2 - 5 mm, but it can be larger depending on the production process. This information is available from your garment maker, as this value is machine-dependent.
- When punching the labels, the silicone layer or even the backing paper must not be damaged. Punched base material "is a quality defect that can often be observed, but this must be avoided in the print shop. Our innovative laser cutting technology largely eliminates this problem. During laser cutting, only a visible contour is created on the substrate without damaging it.
- If problems occur when using "die-cut" labels, the carrier material should be checked. The result of punched-on carrier material is permanent web breaks in the finishing process. However, this effect can also be caused by incorrect setting of the finishing line. Fault-free labelling is only possible with qualitatively perfect label material.
- No adhesive must escape from the label edges. Due to this lack of quality, the layers within the label roll can stick together. The result is that labels stick to the back of the carrier tape and cause faults within the labeller.
- The carrier paper must not be too thick. It must be able to steer perfectly around a sharp dispensing edge. The usual quality for the base material is 65 g/m2 paper.
- The label material must not be too flexible. During the dispensing process, it must move straight ahead while the carrier paper is deflected at the dispensing edge. Problems can occur in some cases with very flexible plastic labels.
- The carrier paper should have a minimum width of 15-20 mm, especially for very small labels. If this width is not reached, the labeling machine can quickly "tear" the ribbon. Please ask your garment maker for this value.
- The adhesion between the adhesive and silicone layer (release factor) must be selected in such a way that the labels only peel off at the dispensing edge, but not at any other point in the machine, e. g. on guide rollers. Within a multilayer label, the release factors must be different, with the lowest adhesion between the lower liner and the remaining bond.
In manual label processing, the label material is manually removed from the carrier web. For this type of packaging, it should only be noted that the roll diameter or the number of labels per roll should not be too large. The number of labels per roll also determines the weight of a roll. The castors should not be too heavy for easy handling.
We will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the technical implementation by telephone or e-mail.
Cost-saving
Digital printing technology is used to produce labels in a wide variety of shapes and sizes in varying editions. Conventional die-cutting of labels slows down the rational workflow.
As a solution for this, Mail Druck + Medien GmbH developed and patented a laser cutting system for the finishing of roll adhesive labels in 2007.
Laser cutting has been in use for a long time in the metal industry, but for cutting paper it is not very well known and hardly used at all. This technique has only received a little more attention in recent years. Our fully automated production lines are the result of ten years of experience with laser cutting systems.
Today, any type and quantity of self-adhesive roll labels can be produced in high quality in the shortest possible time. There is also no need to produce printing forms and expensive punching tools and die plates. A cost saving which we gladly pass on to our customers.
